Pirates of Penzance

This family stage favourite by Gilbert and Sullivan by South West Opera Company bought us in to look after all aspects of circus training, rigging, equipment, stunt doubling, stage management and paging.

Consultation included creating new-to-venue aerial rigging solutions working around space and anchoring limitations of a traditional proscenium arch theatre.

Developing on our original brief, we were also inspired to create a novel barrel-walking acrobatic act which included structural adaption of a wine barrel to enhance circus content and theming within the existing show design.

A show highlight was Isaac Salter performing as stunt double for the 60 year old Pirate King with a rope swing entrance from dress circle to stage to the audible delight of audience underneath. Spot the onstage swap!

We bought multiple circus elements to the production, working with three cast members over 8 weeks to develop ball-walking, acrobatic and corde lisse skills, including a finale webspin all over a weekend of song, adventure and mutiny.

“Thank you for going above and beyond for our production of Pirates. Your expertise has been invaluable and and integral to the success of the show.

Thank you for giving us the WOW Factor!”
